Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of the Avert app, website, and related services. By accessing or using Avert, you agree to these terms.

1. About Avert

Avert provides digital tools designed to support personal reflection, habit change, accountability, faith-based routines, and community participation. These Terms apply to the Avert mobile application, website, and any related services operated by Avert.

2. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age required by applicable law and by the platform through which you access Avert. If you are not legally able to enter into these Terms yourself, you may only use Avert with the permission of a parent or legal guardian where permitted by law.

3. Your account

Some Avert features require an account. You are responsible for providing accurate information, maintaining the security of your account, and for activity occurring through your account. You must not sell, transfer, impersonate another person through, or provide unauthorised access to your account.

4. Paid access, subscriptions and payments

Avert is a paid service. Access to the Avert app and its core features requires an active paid subscription, except where we expressly offer a free trial, promotional access, or another limited form of access.

Before purchasing a subscription, you will be shown the applicable price, billing period, and any trial, introductory offer, or promotional terms. By completing a purchase, you authorise the applicable payment provider to charge the displayed amount in accordance with the selected subscription.

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by the applicable platform and are also subject to that platform's payment and subscription terms.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, subscriptions automatically renew for the applicable billing period until cancelled. Your payment method may be charged at the beginning of each renewal period at the price presented by the applicable platform or payment provider.

You may cancel your subscription through the platform or account through which you purchased it. Cancellation stops future automatic renewals. Unless applicable law or the relevant platform provides otherwise, you will retain access until the end of your current paid subscription period.

If your subscription expires, is cancelled and reaches the end of its paid period, or otherwise becomes inactive, access to paid Avert features may be restricted until you obtain an active subscription again.

Refunds, withdrawal rights, and other consumer rights are handled in accordance with applicable law and, where relevant, the policies of the platform that processed your purchase. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights available to you.

We may change subscription prices or available plans from time to time. Any price change affecting an existing recurring subscription will be communicated and applied in accordance with applicable law and the rules of the relevant payment platform.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Avert lawfully and responsibly. You must not:

  • use Avert for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes;
  • harass, threaten, exploit, or harm another person;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, or data;
  • interfere with or disrupt the operation or security of Avert;
  • introduce malware, automated abuse, spam, or other harmful material;
  • scrape, copy, or access the service through unauthorised automated means;
  • circumvent subscription, access-control, or security mechanisms; or
  • use Avert in a way that infringes the rights of another person.

6. Community and user content

Avert may allow you to submit posts, comments, reflections, or other content. You remain responsible for content you submit and must have the right to submit it.

When you publish content to community areas of Avert, you grant Avert a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, moderate, secure, and improve the service.

We may review, restrict, remove, or disable access to content or accounts where we reasonably believe this is necessary to enforce these Terms, comply with law, protect users, or maintain the security and integrity of Avert.

Community content is created by users. Avert does not necessarily endorse or verify statements made by users.

7. Personal reflections and private content

Avert may allow you to record personal reflections, check-ins, progress information, and other private content. How personal data is collected, used, stored, and protected is described in our Privacy Policy. You should avoid submitting information about another person unless you have an appropriate reason and legal basis to do so.

8. Not medical or professional care

Avert is a self-help and personal-development service. It is not a medical service, healthcare provider, mental-health service, or substitute for diagnosis, therapy, counselling, or other professional care.

Information or suggestions provided through Avert are for general informational and self-help purposes and do not guarantee any particular outcome.

If you believe you require medical or mental-health support, contact an appropriately qualified professional. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services available in your location.

9. Faith-based content

Avert includes content and features inspired by Islamic practices and principles. This content is provided for general educational, motivational, and personal-reflection purposes. Avert is not a religious authority and its content should not be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified scholar or other trusted religious authority where such guidance is required.

10. Intellectual property

Except for user content and third-party materials, Avert and its software, branding, designs, graphics, text, and other original content are owned by or licensed to Avert and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Avert or its intellectual property to you.

11. Third-party services

Avert may rely on or link to third-party platforms, services, content, or infrastructure. Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies. To the extent permitted by law, Avert is not responsible for services operated independently by third parties.

12. Availability and changes

We may modify, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features as Avert develops. We aim to keep the service available but cannot guarantee that Avert will always operate without interruptions, delays, errors, or data loss. Where required by applicable law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes affecting your rights or paid services.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Avert at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, unlawful activity, security risks, harm to other users, or legal requirements. Where appropriate and required by law, we will provide notice or an opportunity to address the issue.

14. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Avert is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for every individual purpose, nor do we guarantee specific personal, behavioural, spiritual, or other results. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or protections that cannot legally be excluded.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Avert will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service where such liability may legally be limited. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including any liability or consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

16. Privacy

Your use of Avert is also subject to ourPrivacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide notice where required by applicable law. The effective date displayed on this page indicates when the latest version became effective.

18. Governing law and consumer rights

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the entity operating Avert, subject to any mandatory protections provided by the laws of your country of residence. If you are a consumer in the European Union or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protections, nothing in these Terms removes rights that you are entitled to under applicable law.
